4pm photo before and after and work in progress

This photo is for my photo essay and is to help my essay have some sort of narrative. I cropped the image so you could only see the time and then made it black and white because it gives it the authentic effect that I wanted it to have. I have 4 other shots similar to this but with different times and they have been edited in the same way.

The purpose of this image is to make a good  impression on my nature exhibition. I added vignette and cropped the image so the subject is more prominent and gave the photo some depth. This gives my photo a more professional look and  deepens the appearance which was my aim for this photo.

The purpose of this image is to make a good  impression on my nature exhibition. I added a black and white curves layer to deepen the flower and also cropped the flower so it met the rule of thirds more. This gives my photo a vintage look.

The purpose of this image is to impress people looking at an exhibition of nature. The subject of this image is the basket of arranged flowers so I used vignetting with a gaussian blur on everything bar the flowers to make it stand out more. I also went over the flowers with the sharpen tool to make them more distinctive. I now think this image is more interesting and has a slightly vintage look so has variation compared to my other photos.

Yellow flower before and after and work in progress

The purpose of this photo is to attract viewers to an exhibition of nature. Originally the subject of this photo wasn't clear, so I made the yellow flower in the centre an obvious focus by duplicating the flower using the anchor point tool and making the background around it de-saturated. I think it is now a more interesting photo and the rain on the petals and de-saturated background gives more substance to the image.

Purple rose before and after and work in progress

This photo is for an exhibition, I edited the photo because originally it was quite dull and the focus wasn't as focused as I'd have liked. Techniques included in this photo edit are vignetting, cropping so the focus of the centre of the purple rose is more prominent and adding brightness to the rose itself and the surrounding grass and leaves. I also used a blur on the leaves and grass so the purple rose stood out more.

The screenshot above shows my photos in specific folders for unit 9 photography. Media > Unit 9 > School brochure/magazine article/Nature & decay. All the photos also have appropriate file names.
